Trash Dance

Sometimes inspiration is found in the most unlikely places. Choreographer Allison Orr finds beauty and grace in garbage trucks, and in the unseen men and women who pick up our trash. Filmmaker Andrew Garrison follows Orr as she joins sanitation workers in Austin, Texas, on their daily routes to listen, learn, and ultimately to convince them to collaborate in an extraordinary spectacle. On an abandoned airport runway, two dozen trash collectors and their trucks deliver a stunning, emotional performance—for one night only—before an audience of thousands, who come to see how in the world a garbage truck can "dance."
