STEP 1 of 3. Download the Echoes Interactive App

Download the app at Apple or Android online stores, and open it. 

In order to experience the audio walk properly, you must allow the app to use your location data, movement data, and bluetooth. The app is free to use and does not contain ads or sell its user data. Setting up an account is not required. 

STEP 2 of 3: Open the Echoes app and download the audio file for The Way of Water 

You can search for Forklift Danceworks in search bar at the top and select the English or Spanish audio or; you can scroll down within the app and look for featured projects, select Forklift Danceworks and then choose your audio in English or Spanish.

Download the audio file by clicking the small blue button to the right of the “Stream Walk” button.

Once you’ve downloaded the walk, you’ll see a green check mark and you’re all set!


Pleasenote the audio walk is location-sensitive. You will not be able to hear the audio until you are at the performance site.

The Way of Water is a global arts-based project bringing people together around water challenges. In Austin, Forklift partnered with the Watershed Protection Department and residents of the Onion Creek watershed to present The Way of Water: Onion Creek.

Audience members began with an immersive audio walk and then witnessed a performance on a restored urban floodplain. The dance featured municipal workers and community members who stewarded the watershed. It was directed by Allison Orr and Krissie Marty, with production design by Stephen Pruitt and musical direction by Graham Reynolds, along with commissioned composers Vanessa Burden, Orion Garcia, and DJGL. 

El Camino Del Agua es un proyecto artístico a nivel global que reúne a las personas en torno a los desafíos del agua. Forklift se asoció con el Departamento de Protección de Cuencas de Austin y los residentes del área de Onion Creek para presentar The Way of Water: Onion Creek

La audiencia comenzó una caminata guiada por audio inmersivo para luego presenciar el show en una de las llanuras aluviales restauradas. La presentación contó con trabajadores municipales que administran la cuenca y miembros de la comunidad. La dirección estuvo a cargo de Allison Orr y Krissie Marty, con diseño de producción por parte de Stephen Pruitt y dirección musical de Graham Reynolds, acompañado por los compositores Vanessa Burden, Orion García y DJGL.
